Brand Ambassadors (our Customer Service Professionals) make the customer service world happy! We have a wonderful team here at VIPdesk and wanted to highlight one star that has excellent customer service skills.  

Melinda Wilcox is amazing at her role here and we highlight her skills, find out a little about her passion and advice for all Brand Ambassadors out there. We sat down and asked her some customer service friendly questions and we hope you enjoy learning a little more about her.

What is your title and role here at VIPdesk?   

I am a Brand Ambassador here at VIPdesk for a high-end luxury brand!   

What are three things that made you want to work for us?  

1) The opportunity to be able to work from home. I knew working for VIPdesk would allow me to help support my family. I have epilepsy so I do not have my driver’s license making a commute to work not possible.  

2) The welcoming and professional environment the website portrayed when I first found VIPdesk helped me make the decision to apply. I was lucky enough to connect with an employee through social media who confirmed what I originally felt about VIPdesk. She said everyone is supportive, encouraging, and professional. That is when I knew I found the company I wanted to work for. 

3) The opportunities to advance and grow is another reason why I wanted to work for VIPdesk. I loved knowing that when I applied, I had the opportunity to advance within the company. I love having the opportunity to learn and grow. I feel there are always opportunities for personal and professional growth. 

How did you find us? What was the interview process like?  

I originally came across VIPdesk doing a Google search for work from home positions. I found a blog titled Work From Home Companies and another work from home Mom posted and rated VIPdesk as a highly recommended company offering work from home positions.  

The interview process was a lot easier than I thought it would be. The person that interviewed me was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable while speaking with her. I was so nervous for my interview I believe I was shaking during the whole interview from nerves and excitement.

What drew you to be a Brand Ambassador?  

One of the main things that drew me to the Brand Ambassador role was the opportunities offered by VIPdesk and the chance to advance within the company.  

I love the idea of being able to work from home and not have to commute to work each morning. Due to epilepsy, I don’t have my driver’s license, so this gives me the opportunity to support my family and I love what I do. 

What are the ways in which you truly “live’ your brand?  

The ways in which I “live” the brand is I always learn about the new products released to ensure I am providing our clients accurate information, and it helps me be able to recommend products whether it is to address their skincare concerns or help a client pick a fragrance for their significant other.

I feel being able to answer all our client’s questions in one call or address any of their concerns allows me to provide the elevated customer service the clients of this luxury brand deserve.  

Having the knowledge and confidence when recommending a product makes a difference with their experience on the phone and allows me to go above and beyond for each of our clients.

What are three qualities you feel make you a successful Brand Ambassador and why?  

I feel my willingness to constantly learn new things, my people skills and being able to relate to customers make me a successful Brand Ambassador.  

I feel as a Brand Ambassador I learn about new products so I can then speak on behalf of the products and the luxury brand itself.  


What is a funny customer service story that has happened to you?  

I got a call from an elderly woman wanting to order some makeup and skincare products. During the entire call her husband was in the background telling her she doesn’t need all that stuff, and saying she just likes to spend money. He was goofing around and giving her a hard time. She was laughing and kept telling him to stop, she even told him she was going to lock him out of the room.  

Before the end of the call, she said, “I have been married to him for 30 years, even though he talks all the time, I wouldn’t change it for the world.”  

I was laughing during the call and had a big smile on my face for the rest of the day.  

What is your favorite quote and why?  

One of my favorite quotes is “Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” By Gabrielle Chanel.  

I feel so many people try to be someone else to make everyone around them happy or to feel beautiful, but in reality, they are only making themselves unhappy. This quote reminds us that everyone is unique in their own way, and that is what makes each of us beautiful.  

What professional goals do you have for yourself as a Brand Ambassador?  

One professional goal I have for myself as a Brand Ambassador is to always provide excellent customer service and go above and beyond when assisting any of our clients.  

I would also like to advance my position within the luxury brand I work for.  

What is one piece of advice you would give to new Brand Ambassadors?    

One piece of advice I can give to new Brand Ambassadors is to always be confident in yourself.  

Never let the difficult calls set the tone for the day, take a deep breath and move onto the next customer.  

I was told during training to always smile when answering the phone your client can hear your smile.
